Scary Movie was much better than this. They just took it over the top a bit too much - in the sense of wearing out a worn out joke.
If you want to classify this movie as making a point, that it did, and they make fun of some of the most cliche scenes and structures of all of the 'teen movies' that sprung up around 00/01. But, a lot of it just wasn't that funny. A lot of the humour in this movie was pretty worn out, and the ideas weren't nearly as fresh as they were in Scary Movie.
Not to say it was boring, I laughed my bag off in places and some situations and scenes were nicely done. The way they placed the subtitles on the foreign exchange student in the office was halarious! Even the fact that they subtitled her speech when she was perfectly understandable was funny too.
Overall it wasn't horrible, and you'll get a good laugh out of it, but it's not really a progression from Scary Movie.
