Zoom-Zoom!

August 3rd, 2006

Mazda 3 Sport (Arctic White)The Focass has been ditched for a much snazzier Mazda 3 Sport with leather, sunroof, the works. This car rides awesome!

Plenty of punch for around the city driving. The variable valve timing makes a big difference... you get nice punchy boost in the 3-4K RPM range (just before it tends to shift in auto).

For an auto transmission, it's very responsive and there's not much lag time between hitting the pedal and the car moving. The Focus was horrible in that regard.. If you stood at the light, and floored the gas... it would first sort of sit there for a couple of seconds, then the incredibly clunky tranny would shift down, and then finally the car jolts forward. By that time, the Festiva you were racing is two blocks ahead of you.

This car feels smooth, and handles like a dream. It has a pretty low stance, 17" wheels, and a suspension that performs well. It's a perfect balance between being stiff around corners and yet being very smooth on bumps on the road. Driving 175kph feels no different than doing 60 - it's kind of scary how easy it is to speed in this thing.

In terms of convenience and features, it's loaded. Rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, and a radio with built-in Sirius!

Bottom line, I couldn't be happier with this car. It's so much better than my old Focass!
