Holiday Downtime at Northern Cablevision's CableRocket

December 27th, 2004

I have an external website monitoring tool which emails me whenever my site (aka internet connection) goes down, and again when it goes back up. This handy service includes a "Total Downtime" report with the amount of time my site (connection) was down in hours, minutes and seconds.

I'm going to use this to start keeping track of downtimes for the CableRocket service in Grande Prairie.

So far, the results for the Holiday season predict a bleak new year for CableRocket:

Dec. 25th - 2:29:15 hrs of downtime
Dec. 26th - 5:14:33 hrs of downtime
Dec. 27th - 7:38:19 hrs of downtime

Wow.. a total of over 15 hours, in just 3 days, of internet access which I am paying for -- and not recieving. And the scary part is, it appears to be steadily increasing .. 2 to 5 to 7.. what's next? All day on the 28th? I'll track this on a monthly basis and figure out what % of my money is going towards actual Internet service.
